Election Blues
Well, like a whole lot of other people I stayed up really late last night in anticipation of the election. David had a little election party. I was pretty optimistic at first. The numbers for Kerry looked pretty good. And then we had the invasion of the red states. It is pretty amazing when you stop and realize how divided our country seems to be politically. I was really bumed out about the marraige amendment passing in Arkansas. I just do not understand how people feel that they have the right to regulate how others live their lives. Does it really hurt anyone for two people who love one another to make a commitment to each other? I have a lot of gay friends and it truly hurts me that they cannot have a governtment recognized commitment to one another. I can understand why some Christians can disaprove of homosexuality. Of course disapproving of something another individual does, and going over to that person and saying you know what? Because of my religious beliefs I'm going to regulate your behavior from now on is something totally different. I have an idea, people of the Jewish persuasion don't believe in eating pork. So how about we pass an amendment to the constitution to limit everyone in the whole state of Arkansas from eating pork. That's probably a good idea don't you think. Eating lots of meat raises all kinds of health risks. Besides since people of the Jewish faith believe God doesn't want them to eat pork no one else should either.
